Filzmoos, Austria is in Salzburger Land and lies in a valley south-east of Salzburg. To the:

• North is the Bischofsmütze and the Dachstein range (Dachsteingruppe).
• East is the village of Ramsau.
• South-east is the town of Schladming.
• South is the town of Radstadt.
• West is the town of Bischofshofen.

The main west - east road (146) is south of Filzmoos. The small road from near Eben through Filzmoos to Ramsau is therefore very quiet.  There is a MPREIS  supermarket (former ADEG supermarket) and banks with ATM machines in Filzmoos.

The Post Office in Filzmoos has closed - the nearest Post Offices are  now:

Walking / Hiking in the Filzmoos Area

There are walks in all directions from Filzmoos, but the main walking areas are to the NW, N, NE of Filzmoos. There is a hikers bus “Wanderbus” which connects Filzmoos with Neuberg, Hofalm, Bachlalm, Ramsau.

There are about 200 km of paths. The Tourist Office may offer free led walks.

Airports (Flughafen)

The nearest airport to Filzmoos is Salzburg.

• Innsbruck: 250 km - 2h 15 mins

Rail Stations (Bahnhof)

The nearest train stations are Mandling (small station), Radstadt and Schladming.

There is a Hikers Bus (Wanderbus) which connects the walking areas. Some hotels provide a free pass (sticker on their Guest Card).

Cable Cars - Chair Lifts

The Großberg 4erSesselbahn (4 seat chair lift) runs in summer and winter.

Winter only:

• The Cable Car "Papageno" runs from the valley station, just south of the village centre, to the mountain restaurant Rossbrandalm.
• Mooslehen double chairlift.
