The main European mountain ranges consist of the Pyrenees in Spain, Andorra, and France in the West of Europe, and the Alps across Switzerland and Austria in the East. Other ranges in the surrounding countries also offer a wide and varied area for a short break or a long tour through stunning scenery of lakes and mountains, small villages and attractive towns.
Most of these countries are either in, or applying to join, the European Union (EU).
